  Project- During my first year in graduate school I was allowed to look into an independent topic that interested me in two separate classes. I chose to continue my investigation in wheelchair accessible design due to my growing interest in the area. Both projects involved selecting a human condition, researching, analyzing the issue from an architectural perspective, and presenting the findings. Process- In both classes research was an imperative first step in the process. The course Design with the Brain in Mind was oriented toward the cognitive side of analysis, while Human Factors in Design took a more broad overview on human interaction in design. After researching the topic and conducting interviews, the information as well as a site was analyzed and presented. Product- The final presentation involved a documentary video, a literature review essay, and site analytical essay. The documentary video was later used in an undergraduate lecture by the instructor.

The essay film Otolith is narrated by a paleoanthropologist born and raised off-world in an agravic future; a woman at home in zero g. Unable, like all future humans, to return to Earth, she has devoted a decade to retrieving, restoring and researching archives of pre-adaptive hominization. By framing the documentary image in terms of scenarios for the future of space habitation, Otolith readjusts the present until it takes on the temporality of the historical ruin. The Otolith Group (Kodwo Eshun, Anjalika Sagar) have been shortlisted for the Turner Prize 2010.

  Color Time! Congratulations to all contestants passing to this Round! Many of the pairs gave us a hard time, so judging was super stressful and difficult. Yes, multiple headaches occurred from it. :] Unfortunately, we finished half of the reviews, but was unable to do all since this is AP & SAT month. But if anyone is interested in the notes we took of them, we'd love to share them with you. Notes for your Round III;; - This round DOES NOT mean you need to drown all of your clips in the color assigned to you. But that is an option if you choose to follow that pathway. - We highly recommend researching your color & finding out any cool information about it or connections that can possibly inspire you to follow a certain approach to the video. If you have any information that will help the judges clarify your video, please input it in your video description. - Think of your beta somewhat as an english essay. Broaden your horizons by brainstorming all possibilities you can create & choose the one that would surprise us the most. - There are so many various things you can do with this beta. Maybe send a moral message, or show viewers a different way of looking at the color. (For example, many people think of poop for brown, but you can reveal it as an earthly naturalistic beta. - Have fun! You can do ANYTHING you want with this video. Go all out!
