  1 Year Post Op Lap Band: My Journey...
  Well gang 52 weeks ago tonight was the eve of my Lap Band Surgery. The actual surgery date was Monday, March 23, 2009. On the day of Surgery I weighed in at 236. I lost 8 lbs on the 1 week Pre Op Diet. My Start Weight was 244 lbs. I am 5'10" tall and my BMI was 35. The last 52 weeks have been scary, exciting, challenging, rewarding, honest, hard, tough and damn worth it! I am very happy that I made the decision to change my life and buy myself the Lap Band. I have not spent $15000 on anything other than my Car and my Education and now the Lap Band. This money was well spent. The Lap Band is the tool that I needed to see my weight loss dreams through to reality. I still have 24 lbs to hit my goal and then the work of maintenance will get started. I am determined and I will get to 145 lbs and stay there. I know I can do this. 52 weeks ago I was not sure, but now, I know I can. Your support, wisdom, encouragement, guidance and selflessness to make videos of your journey's have been the foundation for me making it through each and every day. I consider all to be very special and wonderful people who seriously have touched my life. I can not say thank you enough. My house is yours and I hope that I can continue to share my journey and help you along the way. Thank you. Word/Phrases to live by: Onward!   Tufts Application "Essay"...
  This is my optional "essay" for the Tufts University application. Hopefully, I will be allowed to be a part of the class of 2014. I filmed it by myself, in my school's piano lab. It is all taken in one shot. It is not meant to be the world's best filmography; it is meant solely so you can get a glimpse of my life. Details about the flower: The words on it are from a "politically correct" generic fairy tales from anotherperspective.org due to my love of satire and my current obsession with Robert Schumann's Op. 132 "Marchenbilder" aka "Fairy Tales." I am currently trying to get a clarinetist friend and a pianist friend to play the piece with me. The colors on the flower are done with chalk pastel. The pink and blue are meant to be overly trite in exaggeration to compliment the exaggeration of the fairy tale on the paper. I did not have enough time to let you know this in the video, nor can you really see the details of the flower all that well on camera; so I decided to tell you here that thought really did go into it, although it is a rather simple flower. So, how about it? Can I come to Tufts?(PLEASE!)
